Joy to Be a Child

We believe that a child’s true nature is to be free, have freedom, and not to be tied to a schedule, a seat, a classroom, a building – especially when there is so much outside to learn and explore. Especially through to age seven. Why should a child have to sit still and be quiet? It’s a joy to be a child with all that energy, wonder, curiosity! ~www.thoughtoffering.blogs.com/ice_seeds/

I believe this, yet I also believe that freedom is not just about spontaneity. ~jpc

What think ye? Namaste.

Well, the teachers need to plan field trips to enlarge the child's experiences, so there needs to be a schedule. The teacher needs to plan lessons so the child can learn elementary reading and math, so at some times the child needs to be seated to write and read and learn. Some structures enhance the growth of the child, while perhaps impeding "freedom". Total freedom may be irresponsible if it automatically rules out that which must be structured to occur.

Just some first responses!KB
