Thanks John, for this constant reminder of the good news in our midst, every day, day in, day out. I do like Mary Oliver. She is absolutely amazing.
I have been in a mens group for the last fifteen years. There are four of us. A former cistertian monk - now psychoanalyst, an anglican priest, a spiritual director and me. Mary Oliver's poetry often comes to visit us on our monthly Saturday afternoon gatherings. I am glad you are sharing her within the order community.
The bombings in London have me worried in a whole new way about the world. My local parish priest has tried to gather leaders of the great faiths in our neighbourhood, various christian denominations, muslim imams, hindu priests, rastafarians. He described it as such a difficult gathering, the Imam so isolated in his own world view. What do we do? My sister inlaw in the Netherlands talks about the difficult most muslims have in the Dutch school system. We have all failed at creating a new society that integrates the whole community in a meaningful manner. What do we do now?
Have a great day - and by the way, isn't Tiger doing great??
Take care,
Paul
